TSH-LVTD to Teach my Students

     A teaching method refers to general principles, and management strategies used in the classroom, and the method chosen depends on what fits the teacher and the parents.

 

     Teaching theories can be organized into four categories based on two major parameters:

 

a teacher-centered approach, 

a student-centered approach,

a high-tech material use,

a low-tech material use.

 

    According to this, everyone uses its own method; however, in bilingual education, it is very important to select the right parameters to reach goals, when they imply more than one way to understand the new language. 

 

   Transitional bilingualism, however is when students learn the most important school subjects in a different language to make the transition faster, and developmental Bilingual Education on the other hand, is when students are taught in their mother language for a period of time, while simultaneously learning a new language. This way, students improve literacy, that later apply to the foreign language instruction they're receiving.

 

   Through all my years working in the bilingual world, and being multilingual myself, I have encountered many gaps when only two or three methods are simultaneously being used. To learn a second or third language, a wide structured tool box needs to be approached.

 

     My methodology has been structured using all these parameters; TSH-LVTD (Teacher- student centered- High- low- visual- transitional- developmental approach), because one single means will not open the doors of bilingualism, but many will.

   

   I have taken all these theories and methodologies into one simple system, that in my experience has reached excellent results, and improved readiness, vocabulary and proficiency. but yet most important, has given the children a sense of self learning, while stepping into the doors of bilingualism in a more natural way.

   I have created a series of self-learning activities, and put my own fingerprint into all these materials, full of color, visual concepts, and easy explanations,  that has given  children the right way to step into bilingualism.
